Accompaniment: SVAC/CAVS coordinates with La Luz to accompany and support
immigrants who are detained by ICE and the families of those who are detained; those who
must report to ICE or attend an immigration court hearing or other legal appointments.
Family Support: La Luz Center and FISH (Friends in Sonoma Helping) provide a network of
care that includes rides to dental and medical appointments; food, clothing, and rental fee
assistance; case management; social and mental health services or referrals.
Legal Support: In addition to referrals to legal defense lawyers mentioned under Immediate
Legal Consult/Detention Consult above, Sonoma County has a fund that helps pay for legal
defense. SVAC/CAVS’s Legal Defense Committee and North Bay Rapid Response Network
are seeking resources for a fund to help families pay the legal fees to secure a timely release
of any person detained by Immigration Services. Contact SVAC/CAVS Legal Defense
Committee, Vicki Handron (707-938- 2700); Doris Reyes at La Luz (707-938- 5131); or VIDAS
