Accompaniment Teams (Acompañante): Join others to support the person and their families in
the event of a detention by ICE and/or to accompany those who must report to ICE and to court
hearings.
Advocacy: Work In conjunction with other community organizations to monitor and influence
state, federal and local government laws and policies and/or law enforcement policies related to
immigration.
Citizenship Assistance: Tutor people who are studying for the citizenship exam in English or
Spanish; increase and support voter registration, voter education and voting in the Spanish-
speaking community.
Communications Committee: Help to disseminate information about SVAC/CAVS and the
immigrant rights efforts in Sonoma Valley.
Family Preparedness: Work with others to help families threatened by ICE and deportation
gather necessary documents and prepare for child care.
Hotline: Be trained to answer calls that report ICE activities in our community. Must be
bilingual, have a cell phone and computer. Citizenship not required.
Know Your Rights: Help disseminate rights information to stores, schools, health clinics, etc.
Legal Defense: Help to organize lists of lawyers specializing in immigrant rights and detention;
develop funding for posting bonds; and support deportation defense.
Legal Observation: Join a countywide Rapid Response Network of legal observers who will
verify and record ICE activity in order to support anyone who is taken into custody.
